The legislature of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is to leave, hours after President Vladimir Putin reported plans in parliament to change the constitution.
President Putin has requested that the PM move to the post of delegate leader of the National Security Council, reports state.
Medvedev said the president's recommendations would altogether change Russia's level of influence.
"In this unique situation… the legislature in its present structure has surrendered."
The declaration came as an astonishment, and in an announcement, President Putin expressed gratitude toward the administration for what it had accomplished.
President Putin's fourth term in office is because of end in 2024, and under the current constitution, he would not be qualified for another term.
